Saoirse is a step ahead in artist Nina's shoes

Glamorous artist Nina Divito is painting the town red this week after Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan traipsed down the red carpet in a pair of her shoes.

The Dublin-born painter and designer (inset) scored a massive fashion coup after The Lovely Bones star (far right) donned her distinctive purple shoes for the VIP premiere.

Given that they are not even on sale yet, the young starlet really was ahead of the posse when it came to putting her best foot forward at the Irish premiere of her new movie.

Although Nina normally paints pictures of gorgeous shoes, she will tonight unveil her first ever assembly of designer footwear at an invite-only bash at 15 St Stephen's Green.

"Saoirse's agent got in touch with Nina when she heard about her forthcoming exhibition and requested a pair of shoes for Saoirse to wear on the night of the premiere," explained a pal.

"Saoirse personally picked out six of her favourite styles to try on and they were sent to her hotel in Dublin the day of the premiere.

"When Nina saw them on her on the nine o'clock news, she was delighted that she chose her shoes for an event that was so important to her."

What made the coup especially sweet for Nina is that she has been battling from Opsoclonus Myoclonus syndrome (OMS) over the past six months.

She was diagnosed with the condition, which affects the neurological system and is extremely rare, last September.

However, her pal revealed that she is now "on the mend" after receiving treatment over the past few months in the Mater hospital.

No stranger to celebrity supporters, fans of her distinctive artwork include superstar diva Beyonce Knowles, charity queen Caroline Downey, model Vivienne Connolly and restaurateur May Frisby.

Her new collection includes 11 styles using different materials -- including leathers, suedes and silk -- and will be stocked exclusively in Brown Thomas and Kalu in Naas, ranging in price from €450 to €850.
