THE Sam Maguire trophy was the unexpected guest of honour at this week's wedding of TV3 presenter Martin King to photographer wife Jenny McCarthy.
The Diary can reveal how the trophy was wheeled out at the couple's reception dinner at the Killashee House Hotel in Naas, Co Kildare, much to the delight of the weatherman.
Guest Sybil Mulachy (below) said he was absolutely thrilled with its arrival into the party, following on from Dublin's amazing win against Kerry in September.
"Martin's a huge GAA fan and had no idea they had this surprise planned for him. When he saw the trophy, he went absolutely bananas and all the guests were up getting pictures taken with it. It was a great idea," she explained.
"It was really lovely day. You can see they're still madly in love, even after 14 years together."
Meanwhile the pregnant presenter was out turning on the smiles at Harvey Nichols last night for its Third Age Ultimate Girls Night Out as she showed off her growing bump.
Sybil, who's 18 weeks gone, certainly hasn't let the prospect of having her third baby slow her down.
She was MC-ing the bash to help raise funds for the voluntary organisation, which offers support to older people all over Ireland and received over 10,000 calls last year. Attendees at the event enjoyed skin-care demonstrations and make-up tips alongside a champagne reception and dinner with Third Age ambassador Grace O'Shaughnessy, designer Aideen Bodkin and food critic Orla Broderick.
