Ruth's blooming in Tinseltown -- and is in no rush to return

SHE quit Ireland last April in the hope of making it big in Tinseltown and six months on, with celebrity boyfriend Greg Finley on her arm, it looks like Castleknock beauty Ruth O'Neill is in no hurry home.

The Diary can reveal how the 22-year-old blonde, who had initially intended to return to Dublin in time to begin a Master's degree in journalism this autumn, has been removed from the website of her modelling agency Assets after deciding to extend her stay in Hollywood.

Agency boss Derek Daniels is adamant, however, that the decision to take Ruth's profile down is on a temporary basis only -- insisting that the former Total Xposure contestant will be welcomed back with open arms upon her return from LA.

"Ruth is away and isn't working with us at the moment so we've taken her profile down until she returns," he explained.

"She's definitely still signed with us. We'll update her page when she gets back as she'll have to do new pictures at that point.

"She doesn't appear to have any plans to come back any time soon so it doesn't make sense to have clients ringing looking for her when she's not available," he added.

Meanwhile, those close to the outgoing model have revealed how the ambitious socialite is carving out quite the career for herself across the Atlantic, after securing an internship at a company which produces shows for US network giants MTV and VHI.

"It's all going great for Ruth, she seems to be having a ball over there," said a close friend.

"She's been getting great experience and making some amazing contacts.

"Her lovelife is also looking good, although it's still early days for them. She doesn't really go into too much detail about her new guy.

"She hasn't made any decisions about when she'll come home yet, although she is definitely hoping to fit in a visit to Dublin soon," they added.

Ruth was born in New York and has an American passport, which allows her to stay in the States indefinitely.

The ambitious beauty queen has made no secret of her desire to break into American television and says she'd love to follow in fellow Castleknock native Amanda Byram's shoes by making it big Stateside.

Ruth is already halfway there after bagging herself an up and coming star in the form of Finley.

The hunky actor stars in smash hit The Secret Life Of The American Teenager.

The small-screen star is notoriously shy about discussing his lovelife, however, and has been determined to keep the couple's blossoming romance under wraps since they first began dating last May.

Ruth had previously been linked to Irish rugby star Rob Kearney, who is now very much loved up with actress Susie Amy.
