Rugby hunks drown their sorrows in style

IRELAND may have suffered a disappointing 23-20 defeat to Scotland in the final Six Nations clash over the weekend. But that didn't stop many of the embattled rugby players from drowning their sorrows in some of their favourite celebrity haunts.

Krystle pulled out all the stops to ensure they were treated to a royal welcome after splashing the cash on a complimentary booze reception. Organisers had vowed that "win, lose or draw", they would still show the boys in green a good time for all their hard efforts.

They reserved half of the VIP suite for the invite-only bash, where the lads were showered with complimentary champagne and vodka. Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll, who suffered a bad knee injury in the game, lined out with all his team-mates including Tommy Bowe, Jamie Heaslip, Paul O'Connell and Johnny Sexton.

However, Rob Kearney fuelled speculation that all is not well between him and his actress girlfriend Suzy Amy, who was a noticeable absentee at the bash which went on until the small hours.

Meanwhile, down in Lillie's, the venue was thronged with revellers including former rugby international turned BBC commentator Keith Wood. Other familiar faces spotted included Lorraine Keane, who was catching up on all the gossip with some of her former TV3 colleagues.

Also seen was top actress Leigh Arnold, alongside Jack L, who was in Dublin over the weekend for his Vicar Street show. The previous night saw some of the cast and crew from RTE's Fair City heading in to celebrate the 27th birthday of Yare Jegbefume. The brother of X Factor star Azi, he plays the part of social worker Felix Jones and has garnered a huge following.

Also seen popping in was Katie Price's former boyfriend Dane Bowers, who has now reinvented himself as a celebrity DJ.

Up at Buck's Townhouse, where Sara Kavanagh is the new host, dusky beauty Virginia Macari was spotted with Tara O'Leary, alongside Louise Kavanagh and Karena Graham.
