RTE'S Marian Finucane is under pressure for her soft line of questioning of comedian Billy Connolly over his shouting "f****** c***" at a female photographer.

The €295,000-a-year presenter appeared to snigger as the comedian told her he was proud of his verbal attack.

Connolly (71) caused outrage when he launched the tirade against Valerie O'Sullivan during a show in Killarney last Thursday.

The Scotsman was a guest on Ms Finucane's radio programme on Saturday. She mentioned the incident at the end of the interview and seemed to laugh when Connolly said he was "proud" of his actions.

An RTE spokeswoman last night said it was "a private matter between the photographer and Billy Connolly directly".

Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae last night criticised Ms Finucane's handling of the interview.

"I was very surprised at how she interviewed him. If that sort of language had been said to Marian Finucane, she would have made a major fuss and demanded an apology."
