Roz puts off her LA dream for Kilimanjaro trek

Roz Purcell has put her plans to conquer Hollywood on ice until she has completed a charity trek of Kilimanjaro next month.

The beauty queen had been due to take off for the bright lights of Tinseltown in the hope of breaking into the acting industry.

Roz (20) even has a new roommate lined up in the form of former America's Next Top Model finalist Eugena Washington, who is already living in LA.

The Clonmel-born model has now decided to remain on Irish shores until October, allowing her to mark her 21st birthday in style here in Dublin, when the milestone falls in early September.

It's unlikely we'll be seeing the former Miss Universe Ireland celebrating with a boozy bash however, given that she is on an alcohol-free diet ahead of her forthcoming challenge in Tanzania.

"I'm going to be around now until after we have climbed Kilimanjaro as we have to complete a lot of training," Roz told the Diary. "After that, I'll head back to America and I'll be dividing my time between New York and LA.

"We're doing everything from endurance training to strength training in preparation so it's going to be a busy few weeks.

"I wouldn't really have been drinking a lot of alcohol recently anyway but, no, we won't be doing much of that beforehand."

AR beauty Roz is due to complete the trek, which will be filmed for a one-off TV3 documentary, alongside fellow catwalk queens Daniella Moyles, Louise Johnston and Georgia Salpa in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation.

The chatty model says she has not yet compared notes with RTE stars Kathryn Thomas, Sile Seoige and Jenny Buckley, who completed the challenge last autumn.
