Rob uses injury downtime to jet off on romantic trip

Actress Susie Amy has been helping rugby star beau Rob Kearney get over his injury woes on a sun-kissed US holiday.

The smitten couple are just back from a week-long trip in California where they started 2011 with a bang.

"Home after a brilliant holiday in the States. Looking forward to Rehab and trying to get myself back on the field," Rob said this week.

While Kearney's latest injury has been disastrous news for Ireland's Six Nations campaign, it has meant that he has had more time to romance his TV star girlfriend, who lives in London.

As well as being spotted last month enjoying the Kings of Leon gig at the O2, Rob also brought Susie to the X Factor after being invited over by Louis Walsh.

Kearney -- out of action for at least eight weeks -- suffered the injury during Ireland's clash with the All Blacks and will miss the opening matches in the Six Nations campaign.

But it seems he's also using his recovery time for some home improvements, sparking speculation that he's now in the "nesting" mode.

The Dundalk native snapped up a new home on Sandford Road in Ranelagh last year, splashing out €650,000 on the house.

However, he plans to completely raze the existing structure and replace it with a house stretching over an area of 269sqm and built from scratch.

He submitted a proposal to Dublin City Council last year, and the plan has now been given the go-ahead.

The development will consist of the demolition of the existing building, replacing it with a detached two-storey, four-bedroom house with an open-plan sitting room area and an adjoining kitchen.

His luxury house will also have one double bedroom with an en suite bathroom and even a dressing room, as well as three double bedrooms and landscaped gardens at the front and back.
