Our Eoin will set hearts fluttering in new role as medic on US show

COLIN Farrell watch out. A big congrats are in order to Ireland's own Eoin Macken (29), who has just been cast in his first US TV pilot.

The Diary sees that the former Abercrombie & Fitch model, who hails from Dublin, has landed a part in NBC's show After House.

The handsome actor, who once dated Una Healy from The Saturdays, apparently caught the eye of producers thanks to his role playing Sir Gwaine on BBC America's popular fantasy series Merlin.

Macken will star as former Army medic TC Callahan, who apparently finds himself coming into conflict with his bosses in an emergency department over his unorthodox approach to medicine.

Written and produced by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, the show will be directed by Pierre Morel, who previously worked on From Paris With Love.

But it seems that Eoin isn't just a pretty face -- he also has an honours degree in psychology and first discovered his love of acting while studying at UCD, where he joined the drama society.

He has been acting for the past five years and started off learning the trade on RTE shows such as Fair City and RAW before moving on to work with Michael Fassbender on Centurion and Brendan Gleeson on Paul Mercier's Studs.
