Oscar hopeful Kathleen goes Korean for a red carpet gown

Oscar nominated screenwriter Kathleen O'Rourke is busy shopping for designer dresses before flying out to LA next week for the awards ceremony.

Kathleen (30), from Ballyhide, Carlow, has chosen up-and-coming Korean designer Su Yong to design her purple silk gown.

"Her stuff is all about the curves and I love purple. There'll be some white piping, and it'll have a slit on the right hand side," she said. "It still hasn't sunk in. I was in LA last week for a nominee lunch, and all the big names were there like George Clooney, Woody Harrelson, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Bridges, Colin Firth and James Cameron."

Kathleen, who wrote and performed Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty, told how she rubbed shoulders with Clooney at the lunch. She explained: "It was a little less dignified than I would have liked.

"I was sitting beside Anna Kendrick from Up In The Air, and she said she'd set up a photo.

"But then a man at my table saw George stand up, and he shouted 'Go, Kathleen, go' and I made a run at him from nowhere and the security stood up. But I got a photo with him in the end."
