One Night Stand axed, but Jen is back for second Republic of Telly

RTE star Jennifer Maguire's dating show One Night Stand has been axed.

Montrose bosses have decided against giving the quirky dating series a second outing on RTE Two.

The news came as a blow to former BBC Apprentice star Jennifer, but she is looking ahead.

The show saw Jennifer (30) try to match three women in each episode with the perfect man, travelling all around the country to find their ideal match.

Although she says she loved doing the six-part series, and was hoping to make a second season, Jennifer confirmed the show had been cancelled.

"It was great fun to do and it was a show I was really interested in," she explained, "(but) One Night Stand is not coming back."

Despite her disappointment, Jennifer is looking forward to her return to the small screen with hit TV series Republic of Telly.

The axing of One Night Stand aside, Jennifer has a growing fanbase since her successful presenting stint on Republic of Telly and many are predicting a bright future for her.

However, the bubbly brunette takes nothing for granted and has admitted that times are tough in the TV industry, especially for women.

"There isn't much work out there for a female presenter," she has previously said.

Republic of Telly got the green light for a second series in June and Jennifer is currently working on new material for the series. RTE chiefs told Jennifer this week they wanted her back to present the hit RTE Two series alongside co-hosts Dermot Whelan and Bernard O'Shea.

"Yes, you are stuck with Dermot, me and the Ginger (Bernard)," she joked. "We are writing stuff at the moment and we are very, very excited about the new series.

"This is going to be the best series with lots more new Irish talent being show cased," she explained.

Jennifer, who also owns her own photography business, Bella The Makeover Studio, hit the headlines when she appeared on the UK's The Apprentice.

But since landing various presenting gigs on RTE, the business woman has proved to be one of the most successful Irish female presenters to date.

And as well as juggling her business and TV career, Jennifer has also been in a five year relationship with her half-Italian boyfriend.

The presenter, who has enjoyed some quality time with her beau this summer, revealed that he has always supported her life in the limelight.

"He has been very supportive of my career. With some guys you would have to sit on your hands because their ego gets bruised, but he's not like that at all," she said.

"He's always pushing me. I couldn't do this without him." she revealed.
