NY hotel Boss john pays tribute to pal Gerry at celeb bash

HOTELIER John Fitzpatrick has paid tribute to his late pal Gerry Ryan. The owner of a chain of hotels in New York flew in for an invite-only event in the Residence, which saw throngs of familiar faces descend on the venue last night.

Attendees included Morah Ryan, who had travelled in from her Clontarf home with four of her children -- Lottie, Bonnie, Babette and Elliott.

The 2fm broadcaster used to broadcast his show live from the lobby of John's hotel in the Big Apple every St Patrick's Day, so it was little wonder he and John had grown close over the years.

Alluding to the gregarious personality in his speech, John (pictured right with Morah) gave particular mention to Morah and Gerry, who died in 2010.

"She brought the whole family along. Gerry was a great friend to us all and I want to thank you for coming."

Other attendees included The Voice Of Ireland presenter Kathryn Thomas, who's gearing up for this week's semi-final of the show. Also in attendance was programme mentor Sharon Corr, who was looking her usual glamorous self, with hubbie Gavin Bonner. Fellow guests at the packed bash included PR queen Roisin Tierney Crowe and RTE press officer Sandra Byrne -- who's five months pregnant with her first baby. Also spotted at the event, which saw two Aer Lingus flights to New York dished out, was TV3's Elaine Crowley alongside Christy O'Connor Jnr and Eamon Coughlan.
