NEWLY qualified barrister Alannah McGurk has no regrets about quitting the catwalk for the courtroom.
The daughter of RTE star Miriam O'Callaghan -- also a qualified solicitor -- and broadcaster Tom McGurk is now intent on focusing completely on her legal career.
She told the Herald that she loved modelling, but added that she was more than happy to step away from the limelight.
"I'm finished modelling now.
"I was with Compton models for years and I loved every minute of it but now I've decided to devote all my time to law. It's a new stage of my life and I am really looking forward to it," she said.
Alannah (23) made the comments while she enjoyed the sunshine at the RDS Dublin Horse Show earlier this week.
The graduate was spotted spending some time with her father, who will anchor RTE's coverage during the upcoming Rugby World Cup. Alannah said she had always been passionate about a career in law.
"It actually is something I have always wanted to do.
"My uncle is a senior counsel and I always looked up to him a lot. I really have a passion for law, so hopefully this will go well."
Sources at Compton models admitted to the Herald that losing the 5ft 11in beauty was a blow to the agency, as she was one of the most requested girls in the fashion industry.
"Alannah was always very popular in the industry, but she was very humble and she tried to keep out of the limelight," the insider said.
"She was comfortable on the catwalk, and quite a few people will miss her but she's dead right to go for her barrister work, that's what she's always wanted to do, she's very intelligent and a lovely girl, so the best of luck to her."
