Nick and Dylan kept in dark on next Masterchef

RTE are keeping Masterchef stars Nick Munier and Dylan McGrath in the dark as to whether there will be second series of the hit show.

Restaurateur Nick, who owns Pichet in Dublin's city centre, told the Herald that the pair were "still waiting to hear about MasterChef".

The RTE series, which is based on a format that has enjoyed worldwide success, see Munier and McGrath pair up to judge culinary hopefuls.

Last year's series, RTE's first, was won by Mary Carney who scooped the €25,000 prize.

The programme was gobbled up by Irish viewers when it first aired last autumn, pulling in an average of 281,000 viewers with an audience share of 17.5pc.

It also scored four different IFTA nominations, including best director for Lynda McQuaid and best entertainment programme for Larry Bass of ShinAwil.

It even spawned a spin-off show in the form of a live theatre show at the Taste Of Christmas featuring last year's winner Mary.

Munier was speaking at the launch of Dine In Dublin restaurant week on Henry Street yesterday, which runs from next Monday to Sunday, April 1.
