Niall gets a Hollywood smile to help crack US

ONE Direction star Niall Horan (18) has had his teeth fixed in a bid to crack the American market.

And when it comes to getting advice on overcoming the curse of the 'Irish teeth', the teen heart-throb took it from the top -- namely his boyband star mentor Nicky Byrne.

The Mullingar native had braces fitted last December after record executives advised him to have his seriously crooked teeth straightened to appeal more to fans in the States.

Obviously delighted with the result, he messaged the Westlife crooner this week saying: "You know the dentist you gave me? He has done a serious job on my knashers [sic]."

Replying to the young star, Nicky told him "good stuff, he did OK for me too back in the day", and wished him every luck on his amazing success.

Last December Niall opened up about having braces fitted as he bemoaned the fact that he couldn't eat any sweets for a while and could only have soup for the first few days.

But since having the dental work done, he hasn't looked back as he and his bandmates Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik continue to take America by storm.

They are building up their fan base across the water as they support Big Time Rush on their North American tour and continue generating a whirlwind of publicity for themselves.

Their biggest single What Makes You Beautiful recently debuted at number 28 in the US Singles chart as it met with a positive response from music fans over there.

The lads, who came third on The X Factor, racked up over 100,000 YouTube views for the videos for the album's first three singles and beat off competition from artists such as Adele for a coveted 2012 Brit Award.

Now they're gearing up for the March 12 US release of Up All Night as they aim to replicate The Wanted's success over there.
