Liam Neeson's Taken 2 has defended its US box-office title with a narrow win over Ben Affleck's Argo.
Studio estimates put action sequel Taken 2, starring the Irish actor, at No1 with $22.5m (¤17.4m) in its second weekend. Taken 2 raised its total to $86.8m (¤67.2m).
But crime comedy Seven Psychopaths, starring Dubliner Colin Farrell, opened to small crowds in the US, taking in $4.3m (¤3.3m) to finish at No9.
The movie's ensemble cast also includes Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken and Woody Harrelson.
Affleck's Argo, an Iranian hostage thriller, opened in second place with $20.1m (¤15.5m).
Ethan Hawke's Sinister, about a true-crime writer caught up in supernatural horror, debuted at No3 with $18.3m (¤14.1m).
Here Comes The Boom, with Kevin James as a teacher who becomes a mixed martial arts sensation, started weakly at No5 with $12m (¤9.3m).
