SHE'S one of Ireland's top models, but gorgeous Karen Fitzpatrick also moonlights as a make-up artist.

The Kilkenny girl has been a favourite for designers and a regular on the catwalk for the past decade.

But Fitzpatrick, signed to Assets Models Agency, also enjoys life on the other side of the cameras.

"I studied as a make-up artist a few years ago and I do it quite a lot now," she told the Herald.

"I don't help out backstage when I'm in the shows myself yet, but I've learned a lot from Paula Callen and I'm quite busy with it."

Fitzpatrick walked down the aisle with DJ husband Eddie Hughes last year.

The couple will celebrate their first anniversary on May 24 and Fitzpatrick revealed they are planning a romantic getaway to toast the occasion.

"We haven't decided where we're going yet, but we're hoping to head away for a few days at least, which will be nice," she said.

Having already enjoyed her own wedding, Fitzpatrick knows exactly what a bride is looking for on her big day – and the model has a number of wedding gigs lined up.

"I actually do a lot of weddings," she said. "I think that it helps when you've been there yourself.

"It's the same with when I'm working on models for a shoot – you know all the tips and tricks.

"I'm going over to Marbella later this month for a week-long trip with the photographer Andrew Bradley, and that should be exciting."

Fitzpatrick, who is still in demand as one of Ireland's leading models, will shortly be flown to an exotic location to shoot another catalogue for the outdoor clothing brand Craghoppers.

"I'm an ambassador for them and I've done quite a bit for them," she revealed.

"I got to go Peru and it was amazing. They always keep the locations a secret until right before you go."
