Miriam's ringing the changes

IT was another successful New Year's Eve for RTE star Miriam O'Callaghan – just not on our TV screens.

As colleagues Daithi Ó Se and Sinead Kennedy were busy at work in Dublin attempting to attract viewers to RTE's annual New Year's Eve countdown, Prime Time host Miriam was letting her hair down in a fancy hotel down the country.

The mum-of-eight stepped back from hosting the annual New Year extravaganza for the Montrose broadcaster to spend more time with husband Steve Carson and her children.

Clearly not missing the post, Miriam enjoyed a four-day break to the Dingle Skellig hotel in Kerry with Steve and four of her children.

Miriam enjoyed the amenities of the family-friendly hotel before ringing in the new year by listening to Cork singer/songwriter Art Supple.

"Miriam had a great time and said it was just the break she and her family needed," an hotel source told the Diary.

"She goes there regularly so it seemed like she didn't miss hosting the New Year's Eve celebrations at all."

Miriam (above) is not the only media personality who loves nothing more than an escape to Kerry's picturesque Dingle.

Fellow broadcasters Joe Duffy and Ray D'Arcy are also big fans of the Skellig Hotel.
