HE'S been faring unusually poorly at this week's Cheltenham festival, but it hasn't all been doom and gloom for Limerick horse owner JP McManus lately, with the millionaire celebrating his 60th birthday in style last week.
The Diary can reveal how JP received a send-off to remember ahead of this year's four-day festival, with his family organising an intimate bash at his home outside Kilmallock in Limerick, last Thursday.
"I had a nice time with the family," the businessman told the Herald. The milestone birthday was particularly significant for the popular racing figure, given that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009. JP flew to the US for treatment at the time and later revealed how he was grateful to have been given the all clear.
