Marcus finds a new love with his exotic beauty from Dubai

It seems Leigh Arnold and her former beau, Marcus Sweeney have well and truly moved on after their split just six months ago.

The Diary can reveal that hot on the heels of his ex-girlfriend Leigh, who has been enjoying a low-key romance with up and coming director Nick Thomas, former restaurateur Marcus has nabbed a new love interest of his own.

Marcus (32), who quit Ireland for a new life in Dubai last June, has begun dating a local lady from the Emirates whom he met through work.

And according to pals, the perma-tanned socialite, who has been making the most of the single life since he and Foxrock actress Leigh (30) split last August, is smitten with the foreign beauty.

"He started seeing her just after returning to Dubai after Christmas, so it's very early days for them but he seems to have fallen hard," said one close pal.

"He was back in Dublin for a few weeks over the holidays, during which he was still very much single, but this new girl seems to have really won him over.

"He's been keeping it very low-key and hasn't even told most of his friends from Ireland in case it doesn't go anywhere.

"Like Leigh, Marcus was burned by all the publicity surrounding their relationship and their eventual split and he's determined that his next romance will stay very much under the radar.

"This is the first woman since Leigh who he's really had a connection with.

"He still talks to Leigh from time to time because he's very friendly with her brothers, but they are both now agreed that there's no hope of them getting back together, even if he does move back to Dublin some day," they added.

Former proprietor of Dublin's Il Pomo D'Oro restaurant, Marcus, has also just signed a new job contract, which will see him continue to live in the United Arab Emirates for at least another year.

The Dubliner left Irish shores to take up a marketing job in the construction industry and is said to be having a ball overseas.

No stranger to Dubai, Marcus previously proposed to the late model Katy French during a trip there in 2006.

The socialite couple and their fiery relationship later dominated the headlines in 2007, when Marcus took exception to a photo-shoot Assets beauty Katy had been posing for, leading him to call time on their relationship and engagement.

Meanwhile his former flame, Leigh, has vowed to maintain a diplomatic silence when it comes to her future relationships and those of her ex, Marcus. "I'm not going to talk about my personal life," she said after being contacted by the Diary. "I've been there before and I'm not going to do it again.

"At the end of the day I'm an actor and that's my job and I'm more than happy to talk about that but not my private life," she added.
