Lovers fight it out for job of a lifetime

A LOVED-UP Irish couple are one step closer to securing their dream job after being voted amongst the top contestants in a global competition for the world's 'ultimate job'.

Model and journalist Deirdre Morrissey (27) and photographer boyfriend Rory Moran (35) are battling it out for a place in the final 10 couples on Thursday to become Runaway Bride and Groom reporters.

The coveted job will involve testing out the most romantic wedding and honeymoon destinations all over the world.

Waterford-born Deirdre and Rory, from Carlow, who have been together for over two years, are currently in 6th place in the top 50 couples after an online public vote, from an initial 30,000 applicants.

Speaking to the Herald, Deirdre said: "I think we're the perfect couple for the job. It's the ultimate dream; I would love to travel all over the world and get paid for it. We can't believe we have gotten to this stage."

The job, for Ireland's new destination wedding and honeymoon website runawaybrideandgroom.comwill mean six months of travel for the winning couple from May 21. A final winner will be chosen on Friday.

Deirdre and Rory are facing stiff competition from dozens of international couples, as well as fellow Irishman Luke Owens. The Trinity College graduate scored fourth place in the voting with his beautiful German bride Niki.
