Loved-up Daithi to whisk Rita off to the Med to mark year together

RTE presenter Daithi O Se is set to celebrate his one-year anniversary with Rita Talty in style this summer by whisking her off to the Mediterranean for a romantic break.

The chatty broadcaster said that once The Daily Show wraps for the summer next week, the loved-up couple are set to take off on their travels.

Daithi (34) told the Diary all is rosy between the pair, who went public with their relationship at last year's Rose Of Tralee festival.

And the Kerryman isn't ruling out the prospect of wedding bells in the future.

"Ah, sure never say never," he told the Diary when asked about going down on bended knee. "All's going well with us. Rita and I are heading to the Mediterranean for a couple of weeks during the summer and then we're going to New Jersey to see her parents.

"I'm back then for the Rose Of Tralee.

"It's the first summer I've had off since I was in college, so it will be nice to have a bit of time off.

"We've just finished on the All Ireland Talent Show and that was working six days a week.

"We finish on the Daily Show next Thursday week. It was said that RTE pulled the plug on it but it was always the plan to finish then," he added.

The Montrose talent admits, however, that he is still in the dark when it comes to his work prospects for next autumn.

According to Daithi: "We don't know if it's coming back yet. They're talking about it at the moment but there's nothing signed.

"I'm very hopeful all right but we won't know until we get the nod. Hopefully we'll be back, everyone is really delighted with it. We had a lot of great guests, we had Louis Walsh in this week. "Myself and Claire (Byrne) get on great. At the start we didn't know each other at all and we're very very different but we have good banter," he added.

Daithi said he will spend the Easter holidays at home in Kerry, but admits he won't be over-indulging in his mother's home-cooking.

The down-to-earth presenter was speaking at last night's official launch of the new male fragrance from Giorgio Armani at the Clarence Hotel.

Other high-profile guests at the bash were yummy mummy Ruth Griffin, fellow beauty Corina Grant, Off the Rails presenter Sonya Lennon and up-and-coming TV presenter Darren Kennedy.
