Killian aiming for top in Hollywood with soldier thriller

HIS Love/Hate co-star Robert Sheehan has been making a name for himself in Hollywood and now actor Killian Scott is about to see his name in lights Stateside.

The Dubliner's new movie, Belfast thriller 71, has just been picked up by distributors Roadside Attractions and Black Label Media and will be screened across cinemas across America.

The deal will no doubt result in a major boost for the 28-year-old's career overseas and could lead to some meaty roles in La-La Land if it's a hit with audiences.

The flick – which also features Killian's Love/Hate gangland colleague and on-screen girlfriend Charlie Murphy – went down a treat with fans in Germany last month, when it took part in the Berlinale International Film Festival.

The film marks the feature directing debut of BAFTA-winning television director Yann Demange.

It tells the story of a British soldier who is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot in Belfast in 1971 and must survive the night by himself. It was shot in Northern Ireland last summer after UCD graduate Killian finished production on the fourth instalment of Stuart Carolan's Love/Hate.

Meanwhile, Killian will be back on the Love/Hate set for the fifth series of the RTE drama next Tuesday, to step back into the shoes of his character Tommy.
