Keith reveals secret to the perfect marriage

THE key to a long-lasting showbiz marriage is to keep your relationship out of the public eye, says Boyzone star Keith Duffy.

The dad-of-two has been married to teenage sweetheart Lisa for more than 13 years in what is thought to be one of showbusiness's strongest relationships.

The pair, who are parents to son Jay (15) and daughter Mia (11), do not grace the pages of glossy magazines, divulging the details of their relationship for public consumption. And Coronation Street star Keith (37) believes this has helped them over the years.

When asked what the secret is to a long and happy marriage, Keith told the Herald that the pair refuse to speak about their private life.

"We keep our problems behind closed doors. It's our business whatever it does go wrong or right in our lives. When I first started out in this business no one educated me in how everything works, it was never explained that if you do a glossy magazine cover with your family then you were inviting the press into your private lives, so then if there is a scandal then it will definitely get printed.

"So I don't take the two hundred grand or whatever to do a glossy magazine cover. The kind of things that get written about now can break up a marriage and no money can ever pay for that. A marriage and a family is priceless," he explained.

The Dubliner, who is currently starring in the Gaiety Theatre production of John B Keane's Big Maggie, made the comments while announcing the details of the fifth annual Keith Duffy Masquerade Ball which will take place at the luxurious Ritz Carlton Hotel in Powerscourt, Co Wicklow on Saturday, December 3, in aid of Autism Ireland.

This year's event will be the biggest star studded bash to date with Keith's Corrie co-stars Kym Marsh, Chris Gascoyne and Liverpool soccer ace Steven Gerrard.
