Kate Moss is so shy that she shakes in public, says the photographer Mario Testino.
She may have a reputation as a hard-living good time girl with a string of relationships – including one with cocaine – behind her, but Kate Moss is at heart a retiring creature.
"Believe it or not, she is shy," the society snapper Mario Testino insisted at his new exhibition Kate Who? at Phillips de Pury & Company, in Westminster.
"I go to events with her and I am, like, what's the matter with you?' and she is, like, shaking, nervous. I'm, like: 'You're a freak, because I am not shy at all.' "
Testino says Moss isn't the only significant figure in his world to be afflicted by shyness.
"Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, is, you imagine, the most secure person, but she is shy, too. Often people mistake her shyness for coldness."
