Karl delighted with more chances after his stint on sitcom

HE had a taste for the business as a pop star, and after landing a part in Katherine Lynch's sitcom The Centre, Karl Bowe has been enjoying plenty more time in the RTE studios.

After his boyband days, former Element man Karl (inset) has been pursuing a career as an actor.

The 24-year-old model was a hit with the crowds in Alan Hughes' annual Christmas panto, before getting his biggest break yet and joining Moone Boy's Norma Sheehan and Love/Hate's Denise McCormack among the cast of RTE's new comedy.

Karl has been having a ball playing Mustafa, the Turkish husband of Jennifer Maguire, and told the Diary it has led to more work at the national broadcaster.

"I've done a few short films for RTE since, which will be aired later in the year, so I'm delighted," he said.

"One project is a TV series set to go out on RTE in autumn of this year. It will be based on the life of Dorian Gray and is set in 19th century Victorian London."

But the Dubliner is still keeping his toe in the dancing waters by teaching Get Ready for Garth classes to hundreds of Garth Brooks' fanatical followers.

"I've been teaching people how to line dance every Wednesday in preparation for the concerts this summer and they've been a huge hit so far," he said.
