John Travolta's pet dogs run over

Two pet dogs owned by the actor John Travolta have been run over and killed in an accident at an airport.

Officials at Bangor International Airport in Maine said a service pickup truck hit the animals while they were being walked on the tarmac next to a plane carrying members of the Travolta family.

Travolta, the star of Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction, is a keen pilot and often flies to Bangor in his own plane on the way to his home on Islesboro, an island off the Maine coast.

It was not clear whether he was piloting the plane when the dogs were killed.

Last year, Travolta's 16-year-old son, Jett, died from a seizure disorder while the family were on holiday in the Bahamas.

Two people are due to stand trial in September accused of trying to blackmail the actor over the details of his son's death.
