Jim's seaside home -- yours for €7k a month

The Dalkey home of film director Jim Sheridan is up for rent -- but fans of the Hollywood producer will have to fork out €7,000 a month for the privilege of renting his high-spec pad.

Mr Sheridan had been hoping to sell Martha's Vineyard, the seafront home on Coliemore Road, for the past few years but insisted he would only sell if the price was right.

Now the My Left Foot director has opted to rent out the property instead. He is seeking €7,000 a month in rent for the ultra modern home which was valued at €7m in 2007.

But as the rental site is quick to point out -- rent allowance is not accepted.

Potential renters will get the chance to live like a star in the house which boasts a range of celeb extras including a home cinema, outdoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna and spa bath -- and two kitchens.

A spokesperson for the letting agent said there had been some interest in the property since it came to the rental market earlier this month.

"We have had a little bit of interest. It's not for sale now it's only for rent. It's a year's lease," said estate agent James McMahon who is handling the rental of the property.

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom waterside home, which was built on a rockpool overlooking Dalkey Island, boasts spectacular views.

All rooms in the house host uninterrupted sea views as there are floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony that completely surrounds the property.

"You can regularly sit and watch the dolphins play, while the seals just watch," the property spec boasts.
