Jenny and Ray head to Algarve after tying knot

Newly-weds Ray D'Arcy and Jenny Kelly will be flying off to the sunny coast of Portugal for their honeymoon.

The couple tied the knot on Saturday in Co Meath and will fly to the Algarve in the coming days to soak up the sun and enjoy being a married couple.

Ray looked sharp in a dark-blue three-piece suit and said he enjoyed every second of the day and the humanist ceremony.

"I'm overjoyed. Every second of it is brilliant."

His new wife, Jenny, went for a vintage beaded Jenny Packham gown with delicate mesh sleeves.

"I've never been happier," she said after the ceremony. "I'm just ecstatic. I'm so happy."

Ray and Jenny both said "I do" in front of 116 family members, friends and colleagues at the 18th-century Tankardstown House Hotel near Slane. "It was a great day and a great night," one reveller said.

"I think everyone will be recovering for several days at least.

"They're a great couple and everyone was delighted for them."

The couple wanted the ceremony and reception to remain private. As a result, security was in place at the hotel and walled grounds.

Ray's groomsmen were long-standing friends Darren Smith and Colm Whelan, while Jenny's sister Suzanne and her cousin Niamh O'Connor were her bridesmaids.

The couple's 5-year-old daughter Kate was chief flower girl for the ceremony.

After the reception, guests enjoyed a 'naked wedding cake' free of icing.

Mairead Farrell and Today FM producer Will Hanafin, Ian Dempsey, Tony Fenton, and funny man Tommy Tiernan were there to wish the couple the best.

Before signing off from the Today FM show last week, the DJ told listeners he could not wait to get hitched.

"I'm really looking forward to Saturday and committing to Jenny and committing to a life together and sort of putting a seal of approval on our family – not that that's what we are doing it for.

"It's great that our children are going to be there to share the day."
