Jean has a right to wear what she wants says Nuala

RTE weather forecaster Nuala Carey has defended her Montrose colleague Jean Byrne over her controversial fashion choices.

Nuala, who starred on GAA reality series Celebrity Bainisteoir last year, believes that she and her co-workers have a right to their own individual dress sense.

The Monkstown native told the Diary she was surprised by the hype surrounding Jean's now infamous black "spiderweb" dress and admits she hasn't been paying much attention to the headlines.

"It's funny, I don't really know what's going on with all that as I was busy working," Nuala said. "I haven't really been following it too much, but there seems to have been a lot of talk about it.

"It's not particularly going to affect me, I think that we all dress the way we like and I don't see that changing.

"People have always noticed what we have worn and we'd all be aware that there is a lot of attention on us; that's nothing new."

Nuala, who has previously spoken about her quest for love, was remaining tight-lipped when asked about her relationship status at present.

The glamorous blonde said she would be busy presenting the Lotto over the coming weeks, with fellow presenter Pamela Flood due to take maternity leave ahead of the arrival of her first child.
