MISS Ireland Rebecca Maguire has opened up for the first time about her new boyfriend.
The beauty queen said that her beau Evan Doherty is "delighted" with her pageant success and very supportive of her career.
And she told the Diary how having a boyfriend who's a professional photographer is definitely an advantage.
"People were laughing about it, saying that it's a good combination, a model and a photographer," she said. "It makes it easier that he works in the industry so he knows the score and the way things work.
"We've only been going out a couple of weeks. He did my pics for Miss Ireland so we kind of got to know each other through things like that. He's delighted for me."
Rebecca will have to leave him behind for a month though as she heads over to represent Ireland in the Miss World pageant in China next month.
She'll be jetting out on July 17 to start her four-week long tour, which will see her travelling to places including Hong Kong and Inner Mongolia.
"I can't wait to go over and I'm just getting everything ready but there's no pressure on anyone else to come. My parents and my granny were talking about coming over at some stage but it's a long way to go and it's quite expensive too so I'll wait and see," she continued.
She was one of the guests at last Friday's launch bash in Dandelion to mark the opening of its new VIP area.
Also there was Miss Mayo Maire Hughes -- who hit headlines everywhere after having to hand back the Miss Ireland title after being disqualified because of her age.
It was the first time herself and Rebecca had attended the same event since the controversy erupted last April.
Belfast native Rebecca revealed how she didn't speak to Maire on the night but there's absolutely no ill-feeling between them.
"I got in there quite late as I was at the Kanye West and Jay Z concert earlier in the night so I wasn't actually speaking to her. I haven't actually seen Maire since the whole thing happened and that's not intentional or anything. There's no issue there between us at all."
She described the past few weeks of her reign as a "total whirlwind" but says she's relishing her new role.
And she revealed how she's hoping to impress at the forthcoming beauty pageant by performing an Irish jig as her talent.
"I've been training with an Irish dancing teacher in Dublin and he's an All-Ireland champion so I'm in good hands. I've been doing it for a while now but I just wanted to brush up on it," she said.
She has also been busy working out with a personal trainer in Belfast as she completes some gruelling Power Plate sessions.
"It's just about keeping myself toned as when you feel you look your best, you're definitely more confident," said Rebecca, who has also enlisted Dawn Fitzgerald to design her dress for the grand final of the competition.
