It's bye BOD, as Amy jets home for TV bash

Lucky charm Amy Huberman will be forced to leave New Zealand ahead of a possible semi-final for the boys in green.

The Herald can reveal how the hard-working actress is determined to fulfill her work commitments ahead of the launch of her new comedy show, Threesome, and will arrive back in Dublin for a launch bash on October 13.

Her husband Brian O'Driscoll has been helping lead the charge in New Zealand, resulting in the Ireland squad claiming a well-deserved place in this Saturday's Quarter Finals against Wales.

Amy (31) endured the 36-hour plane journey over to see the side's amazing win against Italy in Dunedin while battling a bout of gastroenteritis and will stay on to see this weekend's crunch match.

But then she'll be hopping back on a plane again to make it home in time for the Irish premiere of her series for Comedy Central.

Asked about Amy's decision to leave ahead of the October 15 semi-final in Auckland, her agent Joanne Byrne explained how Amy had to make a tough call.

"She has her own career and this is the first series ever scripted especially for Comedy Central. so she has to make her own decisions on it," she explained.

"This is a huge thing for her. It doesn't get much bigger than this."

Bosses at Big Talk Productions were especially keen to have an Irish launch for the new series and they collectively agreed on October 13 -- meaning Amy had to cut short her New Zealand trip.

Amy will be over there less than a fortnight as she supports her hero husband and his team-mates as they try to make it an historic Rugby World Cup for Ireland fans. Then she'll be turning her attentions to the launch of Threesome with co-stars Emun Elliot and Stephen Wright at the Sugar Club.

The show sees her ditching her wholesome image for a raunchier role as the plays the part of an expectant mum who gets pregnant after a one-night-stand with her two flatmates. She plays Alice, who lives with her boyfriend Mitch (Stephen Wight) and their gay best friend Richie (Emun Elliott).

The seven-part series starts on the satellite channel on October 17.
