SHE has been hopping from one Hollywood set to another but Irish actress Saoirse Ronan is back on home soil for her latest movie.
The 19-year-old star turned out for the first day of filming on the set of Brooklyn yesterday, which is shooting in Wexford for several weeks before moving to Canada.
Brooklyn, an adaptation of best-selling author Colm Toibin's book, follows the story of Saoirse's character Nora, who leaves Ireland to look for work in the US and falls in love with an Italian-American before a family tragedy ultimately leads her home.
Saoirse was spotted chatting to members of the crew between takes yesterday.
And the shivering star kept warm when the cameras were not rolling by covering up her quaint outfit with a dressing gown, black coat and boots.
The Carlow native happily signed autographs for her young fans before leaving in a taxi after a hard day's work.
Domhnall Gleeson will join Saoirse over the coming days as production for the flick gets well under way. The cast also includes Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters.
With such a hectic schedule lately, Saoirse decided to celebrate her birthday early this year. She will turn 20 on April 12, but blew out her candles in fancy dress with pals in the US while working on Stockholm Pennsylvania, which sees her team up with former Sex and The City actress Cynthia Nixon.
Meanwhile, Saoirse will attend the 11th IFTAs in Dublin, where she has been nominated in the Best Actress in Film category for her portrayal in Neil Jordan's Byzantium.
