It's a girl! TV's Colette welcomes baby Olivia

TV presenter Colette Fitzpatrick has given birth to her second child -- a girl named Olivia.

Herald columnist Colette and husband Niall McDermott welcomed their first daughter into the world on her due date yesterday.

The little sister for 19-month-old Milo was born at Mount Carmel hospital in Churchtown.

A friend of the TV3 newsreader explained: "The name Olivia is after Colette's sister. She was 6lb, 12oz. Mum and baby are doing well."

Fellow TV3 presenter and new mum Sybil Mulcahy told the Herald that she was delighted for her colleague.

"I'm so thrilled for her. We met last Friday for dinner and she was talking about how excited she was. I'm also delighted that there is another new mother in TV3."

The station has been experiencing a baby boom in recent years with Anna Daly and Aisling O'Loughlin also starting families.

Sybil gave birth to her third child, Michael, in early April while Anna and Aisling became first- time mothers in August and December respectively.

Colette's first baby Milo was born on November 18, 2010, at the Maternity Hospital in Holles Street.

However she decided to go private on this occasion after an "undignified" experience in the public system.

She hit the headlines last January after revealing her nightmare in the Herald.

She was on a trolley in a corridor due to over-crowding -- despite having forked out €4,000 on health insurance -- when her waters broke.
