Is Antonia going too far to play role of kidnapped child?

actress Antonia Campbell- Hughes appears to have taken her latest acting role playing a kidnap victim too far after pictures emerged of the Irish actress looking shockingly thin on the red carpet.

Derry native Antonia showed off her skeletal figure as she arrived at the London film premiere of Frankenweenie at the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square last night.

Wearing a light blue sheer dress, the actress, who grew up in Derry, displayed a gaunt and skinny frame which left many wondering if her weight loss has been too extreme.

The 30-year-old is currently filming 3906, which sees her take on the role of Austrian girl Natascha Kampusch, who was abducted and held captive in a basement for eight years.

While the actress is naturally slim, the pretty blonde used harsh dieting methods in order to prepare for the role.

Antonia's dress left little to the imagination and the see- through panel displayed the actresses protruding spine and stick-thin arms, while she opted for a pair of chunky nude heels which contrasted with her extremely lean legs.

The movie began shooting in Munich in May this year and Hughes will star alongside Thure Lindhardt, who plays kidnapper Wolfgang Priklopil.

The film, which will document Natascha's captivity from the time that she was taken hostage in 1998 and her escape in 2006, is Antonia's next big break after she was cast in sitcom Lead Balloon and the Dublin-based movie Albert Nobbs, which received an Oscar nomination.

Antonia, who shaved her head for the latest film, has revealed that she wanted to suffer for the role as she was playing someone real and wanted to give it her all.

She said: "There was an understanding from the beginning that I would suffer as much as she did."

The actress, who revealed that she spent the majority of two months naked as she filmed the intense biopic, also had to shoot explicit sex scenes.

However, Antonia explained she did not consider the scenes as rape as Natascha did not see it that way at the time.

It has also been revealed that the actress had struck up an unlikely friendship with Austrian kidnap victim Natascha.
