MODEL Naomi Cullen has revealed how working too hard nearly killed her.
The 27-year-old told the Herald that she was rushed to hospital three years ago with what turned out to be an ovarian cyst, brought on by the high intensity of her event management career.
"They thought it was an ectopic pregnancy initially so that's why I was brought to Holles Street.
"I had an ovarian cyst that burst and developed into my stomach -- my heart even stopped, it was quite serious ... The staff in that hospital saved my life," said the Leopardstown native.
The south Dublin beauty is now more aware that she has to take time off and not work extremely long hours.
"I was a workaholic; I always had to be busy ... I've taken a lot more time out since then and now I'm perfectly healthy."
Naomi, who is still one of the country's best fashion models, now runs her own party business for children after deciding upon a career change.
She has just taken on an ambassadorial role for Irish Premature Babies, as a result of her experience in the maternity hospital.
"I have a fondness for maternity hospitals since then ... I've heard many stories from mothers about their premature babies and what the newborns went through, but came out the other side... they've all really touched me, I was so moved by some of the cases.
"I think it's a great cause and I'm delighted to be involved with it."
