Amanda Holden has revealed she burst into tears after finding out she had fallen pregnant just months after miscarrying.
The Britain's Got Talent judge and actress, who announced earlier this week she is expecting a baby girl with husband Chris Hughes (right), also spoke of the trauma of losing a child just 14 weeks before she was due to give birth.
Holden (40), said: "When I found out this time that I was pregnant, I burst into tears.
"I never dreamt it would happen so quickly. We both decided we'd try not to think about it before the 12-week mark. Now that we have and I know that everything's fine -- you have no idea how many scans I've had -- I feel we can really enjoy it."
The star lost a baby boy in February seven months into her pregnancy. The child had stopped moving and was later stillborn.
It was a further blow after Holden -- who has a daughter Lexi (5) -- suffered a miscarriage in 2010.
The most recent loss happened as she was touring the UK filming auditions for Britain's Got Talent.
The actress said: "You know when you read about people who hear someone screaming and only realise later it was them? That actually happens.
"People forget how amazingly blessed you are to have children at all, and how lucky you are if everything goes according to plan."
She added: "The funny thing is, this time I just know everything is going to be fine. And we both agreed that rather than keep it secret for ages like before, we'd tell people as soon as we were sure it was safe."
Holden, whose TV hits include Cutting It and Amanda Holden's Fantasy Lives, has been starring in Shrek as green-skinned Princess Fiona since May.
She will step down from the show in October and is due to be replaced by Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh -- two months earlier than originally planned.
