I am so proud to take part in RTE's Gathering, says Bressie

THE Voice of Ireland hunk Niall Breslin has said he's "really delighted and proud" to have filmed RTE show The Gathering -- Homeward Bound in his home town of Mullingar.

The strapping musician was one of six well-known personalities who took part in making the programme, which sees them each returning home to help their local community prepare for next year's event.

Bressie was filmed going back to his midlands roots as he met up with many of his neighbours from his home town at Aras an Mhuilin.

He also revealed that the weather didn't behave itself while he was there. It rained the entire time his episode was filmed, which screens tonight at 7pm on RTE One.

It sees a group of personalities undertaking a journey to revisit places of particular significance to them. They'll also uncover the story of emigration from their home place by meeting with local historians, visiting libraries and viewing church records.

Along the way, they'll also help reunite family and friends who haven't seen each other for decades, ending with each personality creating a 'video invite to the world', asking them to return to the person's chosen town in 2013 for The Gathering.

Other participants include rugby international Trevor Brennan, Irish dancer Jean Butler, comedian Brendan Grace, GAA star Tadhg Kennelly and actress Fionnula Flanagan.
