Hunk Wes gives up modelling career 'in bid for privacy'

WESLEY Quirke has officially quit his modelling career and left the Assets agency.

The hunky boyfriend of top model and former Miss World Rosanna Davison (26) has made a conscious effort to distance himself from the Dublin social scene in recent months.

And his decision to back away from his modelling career, which once saw him earn an impressive €300 per photocall, is thought to be heavily linked to his desire to keep out of the limelight.

An Assets spokesperson confirmed to the Herald that Wes is no longer working with them.

"He doesn't want to do it anymor. His heart just wasn't in it. I have a feeling he hasn't done any modelling work since last summer.

Tough

"You have to be into it, especially for a guy trying to make it in the industry, because it can be very tough, but Wes just didn't want to do it any more. He has a full-time job and wanted to concentrate on that," she added.

At the peak of his catwalk career, Wes frequently posed alongside his gorgeous girlfriend in steamy promotional shots, some of which were used to publicise a competition at the Electric Picnic festival two years ago. Another intimate photoshoot saw them cavorting around a room together in their underwear.

"They don't regret the photoshoots they did together, but they have no plans to do any more like that," said a source.

Despite appearing a dab hand at the job, the handsome Quirkey's Emporium heir always insisted he did not want to make a full-time career out of posing for photographers. Rosanna explained at the time: "Modelling is only a hobby for Wes really -- he just does it from time to time."

But dumping his part-time modelling career was one of the first moves Wes made in a bid to reclaim his private life. His increasing desire to stay off the radar became apparent after he refused to pose for photographs with Rosanna at a book launch in Dublin last April.

Glamorous

On hand to offer support to his glamorous girlfriend, who did the illustrations for author Marisa Mackle's new book Girl in The Yellow Dress, Wes was less than impressed when photographers attempted to take their picture together.

It marked one of the only public events the couple attended together in some time, despite being considered one of showbiz's most rock-solid couples.

"Wes just isn't interested in being in any sort of media limelight now," Rosanna explained.

"As you get older you value privacy a bit more."
