CONTROVERSIAL councillor Danny Healy-Rae is to become the star of a TV documentary.
The Kerry county councillor (below) who called for the drink-driving limit to be raised for rural dwellers is the subject of a German documentary.
The TV crew from Hamburg will spend almost a week following Healy-Rae around his locality.
The producers are interested in focusing on his "passion" and support for rural dwellers.
Danny Healy-Rae rose to prominence when he called for rural pub drinkers to be given permits to allow them to have "two or three drinks" and drive home.
The politician was interviewed by media outlets in Germany, Chile, Italy and Spain.
Kerry County Council passed Cllr Healy-Rae's motion by a slim majority.
And Michael, a TD for Kerry South, requested Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar to introduce legislation to "allow gardai to issue permits to persons living in rural isolated areas". The request was rejected out of hand.
