Hands-on approach for Heigl after wardrobe slip-up

Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl underwent a larger image overhaul than anticipated last night when she had an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction on stage.

The 32-year-old actress, who recently dyed her hair dark brown, was being awarded the ShoWest Female Star of the Year award in Las Vegas last night when the strap on her dress broke and she was forced to hold it up during her acceptance speech.

Meanwhile, another US actress, Jessica Simpson, has begun to examine people's obsession with looking good.

The former Dukes of Hazzard star, who was once praised for fitting into a pair of 'barely-there' denim hotpants, made headlines last year when unflattering photos of her performing in concert suggested she might have gained weight.

But the 29-year-old has decided to turn the tables on questions about how she looked and the result is a new show called Jessica Simpson's The Price of Beauty.

The show, which has just begun airing on US network VH1, follows the star as she travels the globe with two friends, hairstylist Ken Paves and former assistant Cacee Cobb, to examine people's efforts to measure up to their society's standard of beauty.

Simpson has recently become increasingly vocal about supporting a healthy body image for women, and explained that the goal of the show is to empower women to accept themselves.

Simpson is no stranger to reality TV, having previously starred in MTV hit Newlyweds with ex-husband Nick Lachey, but her latest efforts show a deeper side to the singer.

"I'm very vulnerable on the show. I'm very open. I don't have anything to hide," she said. "I want people to know I am just a normal girl that faces normal issues just like everyone else."
