Gwyneth Paltrow spreads joys of celebrity sect

Gwyneth Paltrow is promoting kabbalah, the Jewish sect, while staying in the Hamptons.

Gwyneth Paltrow is said to have fallen out with her old friend Madonna, but they maintain a devotion to kabbalah.

The American actress who lives in north London with Chris Martin, the Coldplay singer, is currently in the Hamptons in America, where she is proselytising for the Jewish sect.

At a friend's house in the East Coast holiday resort, Paltrow, 37, co-hosted a party for Madonna's spiritual "guru", Eitan Yardeni, and his wife, Sarah.

"The party was all about bringing kabbalah to the Hamptons," says my man in New York. "They plan to start some classes. Gwyneth told guests how Eitan and Sarah have helped her through difficult personal times."

Since Yardeni guided Madonna through her studies into kabbalah, the singer has worn a red string around her left wrist to ward off the "evil eye", introduced Jewish ritual objects into her videos and adopted the Hebrew name Esther.
