Good sport Daithi loves Mario's send-up

RTE presenter Daithi O Se proved he was a good sport last night after being pilloried by Mario Rosenstock in his new show.

The opening night of Gift Grub 2 went down a storm with the well-heeled crowd of guests who flocked to the Olympia Theatre to see the Today FM star's hilarious production.

The audience were rolling in the aisles with his impersonation of the burly Kerryman as he performed a re-enactment of the Rose of Tralee.

And sitting in one of the theatre boxes, Daithi (below) revealed how he took it all in good humour. "It's kind of a badge of honour to have him take the p*** out of you," he said. "He's a really nice guy and he does a great job -- the Kerry accent is a hard one to pin down." Daithi ventured out solo last night, given that his fiancee Rita Talty is over in the States shopping for her wedding dress ahead of their nuptials next year. Also in the audience were Leinster player Gordon D'Arcy who arrived with his other half Aoife Cogan just before the curtain went up. Model agent Andrea Roche was there with partner Rob White, fresh from her birthday celebrations in Krystle last weekend.

Other attendees included RTE's Joe Duffy alongside Aoibhinn ni Shuilleabhain, who was there with a female friend. Presenter Marty Whelan had brought along his son Thomas for the night.

The biggest surprise guest of the night was soccer legend Paul McGrath. There with two blonde companions, he even popped into the after-show party to congratulate Mario.
