Friends rally around Leigh after tragic death of son

FRIENDS have rallied around Dublin actress Leigh Arnold following the death of her newborn son.

Baby Flynn Patrick Davies, her second child with fiance Steve Davies, died suddenly on May 17 – just over a fortnight after he was born.

Leigh (33) revealed to the Herald on Saturday how she was struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss.

It is understood that Flynn Patrick died from cot death.

Shocked friends and well-wishers have flooded social media sites to express their sympathies to the devastated actress.

"I am so sad to hear about the loss of Leigh Arnold's baby boy," said top model Pippa O' Connor, who is herself a new mum. "Life can be so so cruel. God love her & her family. RIP Flynn xx"

Pippa gave birth to Ollie, her first child with TV presenter husband Brian Ormond, just two weeks before Leigh.

"My thoughts are with Leigh Arnold and her family," tweeted photographer to the stars Lili Forberg.

"I am absolutely heartbroken for Leigh Arnold on the death of her newborn son. I can't imagine her pain," said another well-wisher online.

Friends say that the former star of RTE's The Clinic is taking time out to comes to terms with the loss.

"The messages of support from their close friends have just been an incredible strength to her," said a friend of the star.

"They have always been a really strong unit and they have just circled the wagons to try to process the tragedy.

"Right now they just want to be left alone to try to come to terms with their loss and grieve in private."

Leigh and Steve (45) have another son, Hunter, aged one.

A statement released through a friend of the actress said: "Flynn was buried in a private ceremony in Dublin last week, which was attended by family and close friends.

"The family are absolutely devastated and request privacy and time to grieve."
