Irish fans have long been aware of the 'charms' of rugby star Tommy Bowe – now it seems fans Down Under have noticed the same.

The winger was pursued by a gaggle of bikini-clad women as he cooled down on an Australian Beach.

The Monaghan man showed off his toned arms and broad back as he dipped beneath the chilly waters for a cold water recovery session after training at Saint Kilda's Beach.

It wasn't long, however, until a group of appreciative female fans made their way over to the 29-year-old rugby star to congratulate him on his performance on the pitch.

The modest player – still showing the scars of an operation on a broken finger – shook hands with the bevy of bronzed ladies before heading out of the surf.

Tommy, who is dating former Miss Wales Lucy Whitehead (25), seemed completely obliviously to the attention and adoring gazes from the female bathers.

He has said in the past he doesn't take his sex symbol status too seriously. "It's not something I think about to be honest but I suppose it's quite funny."
