HE has just rekindled his romance with Selena Gomez so Justin Bieber must have been surprised to see a US entertainment channel report that he is gay.

The pop sensation was the victim of internet hackers who targeted entertainment station E!.

The channel had its website hacked over the weekend, resulting in the claims about the singer's sexuality.

"Exclusive: Justin Bieber to E!Online: I'm a gay." read a tweet from its account.

The post was soon followed up by what seemed like a supportive message from Selena, which read: "Exclusive: Selena Gomez tells E! she will fully support Justin in his coming out."

E! were quick to clarify that the story was not true.

But the tweet had reportedly gained over 1,200 retweets and 351 favourites before it could be removed.

E! said: "Our account @eonline has been compromised and some incorrect information was sent out. We're working with Twitter now to fix this."

The US website is just the latest victim in a rash of high-profile Internet hacks.

The hackers also tweeted via E!Online about other celebs like Angelina Jolie.

Bieber has yet to comment on the incident.

The Canadian singer is currently in Dubai as part of his world tour.

Because he is two years under the legal drinking limit in Dubai, management bosses have taken precautions to ensure that he doesn't go on a boozy bender while in the United Arab Emirates.

The pop star's team have booked out 60 rooms at two different hotels in the city to make sure the teenage star stays out of trouble.

His on-off girlfriend Selena was snapped enjoying herself with pals on a night out in the states while Justin continues his Believe tour.
