Excitement builds for Ladies Day

- EXCITEMENT is building in anticipation of Ladies Day' at Naas Racecourse next month when one lucky lady will walk away with a €1,000 cash prize. The traditional Birdcatcher meeting will take place on Sunday, October 17, with the first race at 2.05pm.

Celebrity judge Karen Koster will share her style tips.

wwwIT will be a boys-only day out next month when a host of players and celebrities from the rugby world descend on the Shelbourne Hotel for the Rugby Lunch, in aid of the Children's Sunshine Home.

The event will be hosted by charity queen Sharon Smurfit, with rugby pundits Brent Pope and Risteard Cooper as MCs.

The charity bash will take place on October 8 with a drinks reception from 12pm, followed by lunch at 1pm.

wwwAMERICAN star Usher's concert at the O2 early next year has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 26.

The Oh My Gosh singer had originally been due to take to the stage on February 5 but says he is looking forward to having some extra time to spend on Irish shores when he comes later in the month instead. Tickets for the concert will go on sale tomorrow at 9am.

wwwMODEL Lynn Kelly turned on the style when she stepped out to take part in a life-sized game of Snakes and Ladders in order to launch Repak's recycling week.

The Dublin-born beauty is among those expected to jump ship from Assets and sign up with Andrea Roche's new agency this week.

Before that, however, Lynn was only too happy to give a demonstration of the game. It shows the ups and downs of recycling. Repak Recycling Week will take place from October 4 until October 10.



  • THE brother of tragic Tricia McCarthy is running 1,000 miles in 50 days to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute.

Having set off on August 13 from Dublin, Brendan has run 20 miles a day and is due to finish this Friday in Galway after already raising €7000.

His late sister Tricia was a talented artist and died earlier this year at the age of 30 after fighting a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
