TEACHER and model Emma Waldron has been hit with the blogging bug.
So much so that she even went back to school – to do photography classes.
The slender brunette is determined to make a go of her new fashion venture, a style and travel blog, which she set up last September.
Hard-working Emma, who qualified as a primary school teacher last year, will spend next month's mid-term break in front of the camera lens and uploading furiously onto her website.
The Dubliner, who won Miss Ireland and Miss World Europe in 2010, has adopted a more worldly perspective since embarking on an eight week romantic trip around Asia with boyfriend Manners Oshafi last summer.
"I had a website but I changed it last September after travelling and being influenced by people who were writing blogs," Emma told the Diary.
"I started a ten week photography course with a friend and then I started writing blog posts. I'm really enjoying it."
MALTA
EMMA OFTEN COLLABORATES WITH OTHER FASHION BRANDS AND CREATIVE MINDS FOR THE WEBSITE, WHICH IS SHE IS HOPING TO TURN INTO A PROFITABLE AND SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS.
The model, who poses for all the fashion shoots herself, went to Malta for the blog after teaming up with a brand over there.
She is looking forward to a week's holiday from school on February 14, and plans to team up with more collaborators, including renowned photographer Lili Forberg.
"The last time I checked, I had about 59 views per hour so it's going well.
"I am uploading about two to three shoots per week, but I would love to do more," she revealed.
"Editing and researching everything takes up a lot of hours and then you need to find time to do the shoots so I am limited to the weekends at the moment."
Emma admitted that she essentially is holding down two full-time jobs at the minute, but said she needs to work hard if she wants to turn the website, www.emmawaldron.com, into a success.
"It's all about managing your time; I work in school until about half five and then I do more work at home until dinner time. After that I start researching and editing for the blog.
"It will be a good while before I can think about turning it into a full time career," she explained.
"There are so many bloggers out there so it will be a long process, but I am really enjoying it."
