Ellison in tears after slip-up means she misses the Dancing On Ice final

EMMERDALE actor Matthew Wolfenden, X Factor flop Chico and Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter will vie for the Dancing On Ice crown after Jennifer Ellison was booted out of the content.

The trio will battle it out in next week's live final on ITV1.

Former Brookside actress Ellison failed to impress the judges in the skate-off against Porter. Panellists Louie Spence, Robin Cousins and Katarina Witt were unanimous in saving Porter last night.

Ellison had tears streaming down her face as she left, telling host Phillip Schofield: "I really loved it. I just want to thank everyone for this opportunity."

The 28-year-old, sporting a glistening red ra-ra skirt, also cried after stumbling during her first performance of the night. She received a score of 24 from the judges after doing a routine to Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

"I feel like I fell at the last... the critical point," she said. "I just let myself down a bit."

Witt told her: "You've been getting better skating-wise for the last few weeks but for me I did not see enough of it." Spence added: "Jennifer you have come so so far. When you first started out you had no confidence in yourself, you built this confidence up.

"After you kicked yourself in the head you started to shine.

"It was a really good performance, unfortunately the standard is so high, and it is the semi-finals, that stumble was just bad luck for you but it was a good performance."

To get additional points, the stars performed a solo skate to show off the skills they have learned throughout the contest.

Wolfenden automatically earned his place in the final by gaining the highest score on the leader board.

Earlier, his Michael Jackson-themed performance was applauded by the judges despite him dropping professional skater Nina Ulanova. He made the error during the headbanger manoeuvre, where he held Ms Ulanova by her ankles and swung her around.

As he attempted to pull her out of the lift her head grazed the ice and the pair wobbled slightly. However, they managed to recover and still impressed the panel.

Mentor Jayne Torvill said: "I loved that routine and let's not take away from the rest of the routine because of that."

Chico, sporting a turquoise outfit, earned a high score of 28.5 for his "emotional" routine with professional partner Jodeyne Higgins.

Ms Higgins said: "I could not be more proud of him than I am tonight.

He has brought it all together and it has touched my heart."
