Eclectic weekend for winner Callum

CALUM Best was painting the town red over the weekend after his Mayo team of Moy Davitts won Celebrity Bainisteoir.

The well-known party boy went head-to-head with rival Roz Purcell and her team of Newtowncashel in Longford as they fought it out to win the coveted title with a 0-9, 0-8 victory.

Not even the appeal of having Roz train them in a bikini could spur her team to victory, as they endured a narrow defeat at the hands of Best's team.

And Calum revealed after his big win how he reckoned his late dad George Best was watching over him during the tense final.

"I did actually look up at the sky and I heard him say, 'good luck son, you can do it'. I know he's proud of me for this," he said.

The grand finale of RTE's Celebrity Bainisteoir aired last night but was actually filmed in Parnell Park on Friday.

Among those on hand to congratulate Calum was his good pal Madeline Mulqueen, alongside GAA legends Michael O Muircheartaigh and Memory Man, Jimmy Magee.

Still high from his big win, Calum was later chauffeured to Bray for a far easier task -- helping to judge the Miss Eclectic Garden final at the Porterhouse.

He was helped pluck a winner from the bunch of hopefuls by Tiffany Stanley and Sara Kavanagh.

They eventually opted for local girl Sinead Duffy, who will go on to compete in the Miss Universe Ireland final this Friday.
