Eager fans must wait to walk in Saoirse's shoes

FASHION fans will have an agonising month-long wait if they want to follow in the glamorous footsteps of Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan.

Although photographs of the teen wearing Nina Divito's distinctive purple shoes were splashed all over the newspapers, she got a significant head start in getting hold of the shoes.

A source has revealed to the Herald that the designer's first shoe collection won't hit the shelves in Brown Thomas Dublin until February 22, with a similar wait expected in the other stockist of Kalu in Naas.

Even the hefty price tag of between €450 and €850 for the fabulous footwear hasn't deterred style queens from clamouring to get their hands on them.

"The amount of interest in these shoes has just been enormous and once everyone saw them on Saoirse, they are the must-have footwear this season.

"The problem is, they won't come into stock in Ireland until next month as the ones that Nina gave Saoirse for the Lovely Bones premiere were a sample pair and she did it as a favour after she was contacted by her publicist," he said.

Nina, who has been battling Opsoclonus-Myoclonus syndrome, recently showed off her new collection of shoes and paintings at an invite-only bash at St Stephen's Green that was attended by many of our best-known socialites.
